– 1 lb ground beef – 1/2 cup breadcrumbs – 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese – 1 egg – 2 cups marinara sauce – 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese – 1 tsp Italian seasoning – Salt and pepper to taste – 1 tbsp olive oil
Mix beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, seasoning, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Shape into meatballs and set aside for browning in a skillet.
Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Brown the meatballs on all sides until golden. Don’t cook them fully, as they’ll finish in the oven.
Preheat oven to 375°F. In a baking dish, spread a layer of marinara sauce, then arrange browned meatballs evenly over the sauce.
Spoon remaining marinara sauce over the meatballs. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella generously on top to create a cheesy layer.
Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 10 minutes until cheese is bubbly and lightly golden.
Let casserole rest 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with extra Parmesan or herbs. Enjoy with garlic bread or over pasta for a hearty meal.
