Homemade Cupcake Frosting Recipe

Ingredients

– 1 cup unsalted butter, softened – 3–4 cups powdered sugar – 2 tsp vanilla extract – 2–3 tbsp heavy cream or milk – Pinch of salt

Instructions:

Start by beating softened butter in a large bowl until smooth and creamy, using a hand or stand mixer on medium speed for about 2–3 minutes.

Gradually add powdered sugar, one cup at a time. Beat on low after each addition, then increase speed to fully incorporate it before adding more.

Add vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Beat again to blend flavors well. Adjust vanilla for stronger flavor if desired, but don’t overpower it.

Slowly pour in heavy cream, one tablespoon at a time, and mix until the frosting reaches your preferred creamy and fluffy consistency.

If the frosting is too thick, add more cream. If it’s too thin, add more powdered sugar. Taste and adjust salt or vanilla if needed.

Use immediately to frost cooled cupcakes or store in the fridge for later. Let it soften before piping if chilled. Enjoy your delicious treat!
