Ohtani's Leadoff Blast Sets Tone As Dodgers Hold Off, Sweep Rockies

Shohei Ohtani crushed a 448-foot homer to the Right Field Pavilion, his 12th 445+ ft HR as a Dodger—more than any teammate since Statcast began in 2015.

His leadoff blast kicked off a seven-run first inning in the Dodgers’ 8-7 win over the Rockies, capping a three-game sweep and 4-2 homestand.

Freddie Freeman followed Ohtani with a solo homer. Later, Andy Pages and Austin Barnes helped add five more runs with two outs in the same inning.

Ohtani’s second hit in the first inning knocked Rockies starter Germán Márquez out of the game after he retired just two of the 10 batters he faced.

Dodgers starter Bobby Miller struck out seven but allowed six runs in three innings, including a five-run third with two homers after loading the bases.

Andy Pages delivered again in the fifth with a clutch RBI that ended up being the game-winner, preserving the Dodgers' narrow one-run victory.

Ohtani entered hitting .280 with an .899 OPS. Despite recent surgeries, he leads the team with six homers and continues ramping up to pitch again.

My rehab has been smooth,” said Ohtani. “I usually don’t start hot, but this is normal for me. Overall, it’s been a good first 20 games.
